Separate and unequal

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled.

In 1961, the year Barack Obama’s parents married, 16 states banned interracial marriage. In 1967 the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled those bans unconstitutional. (Loving)

On the same day that they voted 60% for Obama, Californians amended their constitution to make same-sex marriage illegal. So did Arizona. So did Florida.
